Skylands Sport Touring Motorcycle Club

Exciting News!

Sport Touring and Skylands BMWRiders clubs have combined to form a single club. We’ve been intermittently riding together for some time and the similarities between the clubs in all important aspects are identical: so the combination was very natural.

Both previous clubs were formed in  the very early 1990’s as all-brands motorcycle clubs that emphasized the “sport” in sport-touring. We ride most every Sunday, year-round, as long as it’s over 40 degrees and the roads are dry.

We ride at a spirited pace, but we pride ourselves on having a high safety-awareness and always ride non-competitively.  Our riding rules are designed to maximize both enjoyment and safety, and enable our rides to be fun for riders of different skill levels.  In fact, our most important rule is to “ride your own ride” – meaning that each rider rides at a pace that is comfortable for him or her.

SSTMC invites non-members to join us for Sunday rides, though you first must contact the club before riding up on Sunday morning: see Joining SSTMC For A Ride for specific contact info.   We also recommend that you review the FAQ for other information. Experience has taught us that properly setting expectations will help make your first SSTMC ride both safe and enjoyable. Ride destinations are in Rides & Events

All motorcycles on SSTMC rides must have good tires, brakes, and current legal paperwork.  In addition, all riders are required to wear Proper Protective Gear in the form of helmet, motorcycle jacket, riding pants, boots and gloves. We do not make exceptions to the PPG requirement.

SSTMC in-season rides ( April thru Nov. ) generally meet at 9:00 am from 5 convenient starting locations rotated weekly in: Alpine, Far Hills, Clinton, Denville, and Troy Hills/Parsippany or Mahwah New Jersey. In months with 5 Sundays, the 5th Sunday start point will be selected by the ride leader.

In addition to the Sunday rides, we also do multi- day trips (both domestic and international), track days, training (i.e., American Supercamp), multi-surface adventures,  and a  couple of non-riding events (i.e., motorcycle show, holiday party).
